Six steps, in the order the app's own checklist walks you through them. Most teams finish them in one sitting.

Before you start

Three things to know.

  • The trial lasts 14 days and covers up to 5 seats. It needs no card, and read-only stakeholders do not take a seat.
  • The trial link opens the sign-in page at app.callheim.com. Choose Create account.
  • The sign-up code and team invitations come from no-reply@verificationemail.com, the sign-in service CallHeim uses. Page e-mails come from notify.callheim.com. Add both to your mail allow list, and check the spam folder if a code does not arrive.

Six steps

Set up on-call that pages a real person.

  1. 01

    Create your organization

Enter your organization name, your work e-mail address and a password, then the code CallHeim e-mails you. The organization starts on the 14-day trial.

  2. 02

    Create a team

A team holds the people who share on-call duty. Schedules and escalation policies belong to it.

  3. 03

    Add responders

Invite your teammates so more than one person can be paged. Each person chooses how and when they are paged: ordered steps with delays, quiet hours for lower severities, a low-urgency digest instead of a page, and an organization-wide default for anyone who has not set their own.

  4. 04

    Set up an on-call schedule

Build a rotation so someone is always on call. Schedules support layers, overrides, weekday and hours restrictions, time off and shift swaps, in any time zone.

  5. 05

    Define an escalation policy

Escalation policies have up to 8 tiers, each paging a person, a team or a schedule, with per-tier timeouts from 1 to 240 minutes, optional repeats and a mandatory fallback. The whole chain must fit within 24 hours.

  6. 06

Connect an alert source and confirm a page arrived

Pick your tool from the 135 alert sources, create the integration in CallHeim and paste its URL into the tool. Then send yourself a test page from your Profile and confirm it was delivered.

Text and phone-call pages. An organization admin turns SMS and voice on, and each person verifies their own phone number first. Texts and calls go to numbers in the United States and Canada.

Moving from PagerDuty or Opsgenie? An organization admin runs the importer from the organization settings in the app, with a read-only token from PagerDuty or Opsgenie. CallHeim stores the imported data in AWS us-east-1, whatever the region of the old account. Read the migration guide →
